Made with love, these archival fine art giclée prints are produced on museum-quality Hahnemühle paper, featuring a soft matte finish for exceptional depth and detail. This paper is especially unique, as it is crafted from 90% bamboo and 10% cotton — making it the most ecologically friendly paper that’s not only good for our planet, but perfectly replicates the weight and subtle texture of the watercolour paper used in the original painting.

Primavera is a special painting for many reasons. It was the first piece I created purely for my own enjoyment, without the need to meet a brief or personalize it for a friend or family member (though, don’t get me wrong, that is still one of my favourite things to do). It marked the first work I had done for myself in many years and signaled the beginning of my own creative project — the launch of my business, Material Poet. In Spanish, Primavera means “spring,” and although I slowly made this over the autumn and winter months, it feels like a new season has arrived. I can’t shake the feeling of a fresh shift in the air — a new chapter, filled with beginnings, abundance, and the revival of life.

My plan for this artwork was to paint poppies. I am mesmerized by their sculptural form, texture, and layered complexity. They don’t stand straight, yet bend and twist in every direction with confidence. Their movement reminds me of my own path through my twenties — no straight line, but an unbeaten road full of wandering, discovery, and bright memories. As the painting developed, the flowers began to morph, taking on qualities of other blooms. They became an “unknown” species, blurring characteristics in a way I love to do in my design work — which felt perfectly fitting for this piece.

I was thrilled when I discovered acrylic ink. Its richness, yet similarity to watercolour, felt like discovering the best of both worlds. Using it with a scoring technique allowed the dark indigo ink to seep into the paper’s crevices, leaving lasting impressions. And although the thousands of scored lines did give me carpal tunnel, I can now say it was absolutely worth it.
